Just got into Santa Clara University School of Law. I hate to use the term "saftey school", but I was fairly certain I would get in. My GPA and LSAT were higher than their 75th percentile, I have a recommendation from an adjunct professor on their faculty, and I wrote my personal statement about intellectual property which is one of their stronger programs. Still it's nice to wanted. It's even nicer to be wanted with a big scholarship, which they were nice enough to offer.
Financial aid will almost certainly play some role in where I end up going to school, but I think GW, BC, and BU are all leagues ahead of SCU in the opportunity they provide, so the scholarship won't affect me too much. I might be able to use it for leverage and get more $$ from schools I am considering at decision time though.
I don't mean to sound unexcited. It's extremely good news. It's just not the news I'm really anticipating... Stanford, Boalt, UCLA and Georgetown.
