Mr. Buddha Goes To Washington

Since the beginning of July, I've driven over 8,000 miles. On Monday afternoon, I pulled into Washington, D.C. I've been registrated, orientated, innoculated, and now it's time for school to start. I apologize for the long absence. I assure you that with school, a new city, and hundreds of new names and faces, there is a ton on my mind. A good portion of it should end up on these pages in the next few weeks.

well, i gotta say, i expect to be using the brain a fair bit in the near future. classes start Tuesday and homework started yesterday. you might have to go on hiatus.

I completed all brain cycles earlier tonight. You are free to think at will. Don't strain her to hard cause I may need to do some calculating in a month or two. Until then, dazzle them kids at Georgetown.

Have you been to the tombs yet?

Also there is a Russian restuarant and Smash records. Both recommended for completely different reasons. Also, if you ever find that you wish to attend a show at the Birchmere, let me know.

sweet. no tombs yet. we almost went the other night, but then plans changed. i don't know how often i'll make it over to georgetown proper though, since the law school itself is actually near capitol hill. what's the name of the restaurant?

Posted by: buddha at September 2, 2002 11:07 AM

oh yeah. I forgot the Law school ain't in Gtown. Hmm.. Capitol hill. Hmm.. Are you in the gentrified part? I can't say that I know that area very well.

Oh, and I have no idea what the russian place is called or if it still there.

I'm rather embarassed that I know London better than I know D.C.

if by "gentrified" you mean "right across from the largest homeless shelter in D.C.", then yes. we're actually in a pretty non-residential area. not a whole lot going on round these parts in terms of shops, restaurants, clubs, bars, etc.

Posted by: buddha at September 2, 2002 09:10 PM

yikes. I guess the gentrification bunny hasn't visited your part of the hood yet.

Dude, I like your definition of "gentrification"

it seems i have much to learn about our nation's capital. apparently, i AM in the gentrified section of the Capitol Hill area. i should have guessed... after all, the area one block away from where i live, affectionately known as "crack park", just oozes urban-renewal-in-action.

And, oddly enough, I had dinner at the Tombs tonight.
