Satisfaction is a Warm Cookie
The first couple batches of cookies I made after getting to D.C. got a little, well, burnt. Louisiana Style Blackened cookies. I kept adjusting the time down on each batch and checking them regularly to no avail. So I bought an oven thermometer. It turns out our oven is about 25 degrees hot. Just the opposite of the ghetto oven we had in Somerville. I also bought a couple new cookie sheets ($13 at Costco for three nice baking sheets and a cooling rack!). Armed with the latest and greatest in cookware, I returned to the kitchen Monday night.
In the last year, I figure I've baked roughly a thousand cookies or so. These may well have been the best yet. Simple, perfect chocolate chip cookies. I just used the Toll House recipe right off the package of chocolate chips. Couldn't have been easier, or come out any better.
